CHILDRESS – Drum roll, please…the winners of the Childress County Heritage Museum 2nd Annual Photography Contest fundraiser are James Timmons, Remi-Lynn Jones and Karen Leonard.
Childress County Heritage Museum Executive Director Lee Ann Morren said 49 total pictures were submitted. There were five categories: people, places, animal/insects, things and Childress County history, which was new this year.
“I was pleased with the turnout,” Morren said. “We had a lot of really nice pictures. We would like to thank everyone who submitted a photograph.”
For the places category, Timmons won first, Leonard came in second and Carla Springer took home third. In the things category, Timmons won first and second, and Linda Gooch came in third.
Timmons won first and second in the people category, and Leonard took home third. For the animals category, Leonard won first and third, and Rebekah Howard came in second. In the Elementary School things category, Jones placed first and second.
For the Historic Childress category, Timmons took home first, Leonard came in second and Linda Gorley placed third. Timmons also won fan favorite photograph.
The first-place photos and fan favorite photograph will be on display until next year’s contest in October 2021. Morren encourages residents to visit the museum and see the photos.
“Come see the variety of the moments captured in time by your fellow residents,” Morren said. “The fan favorite photograph is of downtown Turkey.”
Morren said other photos include a turtle, spider web and a little girl sitting outside reading a book.
“We would like to thank everyone for participating,” Morren said. “It was successful. Proceeds went to benefit and support the museum.”
