Childress ISD Coach Dante Hibbert was arrested and booked into the Childress County Jail on Tuesday, Nov. 17.
According to Sgt. Dan Buesing, DPS public information officer, Hibbert is being investigated for improper student-teacher relationship and online solicitation of a minor. The investigation is on-going and is being led by the Texas Rangers.
This is Hibbert’s second year with Childress ISD, where he has served as a coach for various athletic teams, including varsity girls’ basketball and high school football. Hibbert graduated from Abilene Christian University in 2018. Hibbert is 25 years old.
Childress ISD has offered counseling services to students. If parents see students struggling over the Thanksgiving Break and would like to seek school counseling services, they can do so by calling 940-637-6131 ext. 4040.
Childress ISD canceled classes on Friday, Nov. 20, sending students on holiday a day early, due to COVID-19. Classes are scheduled to resume on Nov. 30.
