WELLINGTON – Superintendent Kurt Ashmore informed the community of a high school student, a junior high student and a high school staff member who tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
“The students were isolated and sent home as soon as administrators were made aware that they were feeling ill,” Ashmore said. “The high school staff member self-checked Monday morning and was not on campus this week.”
The schools continue to take precautionary measures to ensure student and staff safety by sanitizing and disinfecting classrooms and facilities at WISD.
“We have seen a rise in COVID-19 cases in Collingsworth County as well as in surrounding communities,” said Ashmore. “WISD highly recommends and strongly encourages students and staff to wear masks at school.”
WISD continues to monitor this situation and will provide additional information as needed.
“Out of an abundance of caution, we advise you to monitor your health, follow the CDC guidelines for people who have had close contact, and contact your primary care physician if you develop symptoms,” Ashmore added. “We pray for a successful recovery for all of those affected.”
