WELLINGTON— Collingsworth County Precinct 3 Commissioner Eddie Orr died Tuesday, Nov. 3 following a battle with cancer. The Courthouse closed last Friday afternoon, Nov. 6, for employees to attend the memorial service for Commissioner Orr.
“Eddie took office as a commissioner in January 2001,” said County/District Clerk
Jackie Johnson. “He ran as a write-in candidate and beat Joe Tipton.”
Orr served 20 years and would have begun his sixth four-year term in January 2021.
“He’s just been a very good commissioner,” Johnson added.
“He had a way of thinking about all of the issues. He has represented his precinct well
and taken good care of the courthouse employees too.”
Orr ran unopposed for the new four-year term and garnered 229 votes from Precinct 3.
“We all lost a good man in the passing of Eddie Orr,” said Dickie Johnson, also
