Billye Jean Wilkinson Glover, age 92 of Crockett, passed away October 16, 2020 at the Elmcroft Assisted Living in Graham.
Billye was born May 11, 1928 on a farm near Hollis, Okla., the first child of Clarence A. Wilkinson and Leona Edgar Wilkinson. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at the age of 13 years and strived to live in His will all the rest of her life.
She attended LaCasa Schools near Hollis and graduated as valedictorian of her senior class in May 1946. She then attended Southwestern State College in Weatherford, Okla. graduating cum laude in August 1949.
After graduation, Billye was employed by Weatherford Public Schools where she served as secretary to the superintendent. In addition, she taught two classes of sophomore English for one year, then became a full-time school secretary.
Billye married George E. Glover in Weatherford, Okla. on August 6, 1950, and in 1952, they moved to Midland, Texas where their three sons were born.
In 1974, she and George were transferred to Houston and she got a job as a secretary with Moncrief Oil Company, retiring after 27 years. In 1987, they moved to Crockett to enjoy their retirement. Billye served as a faithful member of the Central Baptist Church for many years.
Billye is survived by sons Gary Glover and wife Carol of Olney, Keith Glover and wife Christi of Sitka, Alaska and Kendall Glover and wife Samantha of Gillette, Wy.; granddaughters Sarah, Kate and Elizabeth; great-grandsons Jackson and Carson; and sister-in-law Theoda Wilkinson of Friendswood.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, George E. Glover; parents, Clarence and Leona Wilkinson; and brothers Elreece Wilkinson and Elree Wilkinson.
A private family graveside service for Billye Jean Wilkinson Glover was held Friday, October 23, 2020 in the Evergreen Memorial Park in Crockett.
