PADUCAH – Landowners in Childress,
Cottle and Hardeman counties are
encouraged to attend a meeting on the
Texas kangaroo rat, which is under review
for listing as a threatened or endangered
species under the Endangered Species
Act by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Wright said the Texas Parks & Wildlife
Department will host a series of landowner
meetings about the Texas kangaroo rat,
Endangered Species Act and a conservation
program that can provide assurances
to enrolled landowners if the species were
to become listed.
The meetings will be held from noon to
1 p.m. at three different locations between
Nov. 4 and Nov. 6, Wright said. The
Paducah meeting will be Wednesday,
Nov. 4 on the second floor of the Cottle
County Courthouse. This meeting will
be online via WebEx. For information on

The meeting in Childress will be
Thursday, Nov. 5, in the Reunion room
of the Fair Park Auditorium, and the
Quanah meeting will be Friday, Nov. 6,
at the Community Center, 1600 Airport
Road.
La Unica Taqueria will provide a free
catered lunch, but attendees must RSVP
by Friday, Oct. 30. Lunch is being
sponsored by the Texas Parks & Wildlife
Department, Capital Farm Credit of
Childress and the Childress County Ag
Committee.
