CHILDRESS – For the first time in almost a year, Old Glory is flying again at the Childress County Heritage Museum.
The original flagpole from 1935 was blown over on Nov. 30, 2019, Childress County Heritage Museum Executive Director Lee Ann Morren explained. “The straight-line winds that came through blew it over.”
Morren said she called Marino Rodriguez, who works at AEP, to see if they would help install a new flagpole. Rodriguez brought Carl Matthews, John Salazar, Stratton Bocanegra and Mike Prince with him to help, and they installed it at no cost to the museum, she added.
“We’re very happy and grateful to the guys from AEP who installed our new flagpole,” Morren said.
