CHILDRESS – Childress
Police Chief Slade Miller
served trespass warnings to
Childress City Alderman Mike
Dietrich and his father, Fred
Dietrich, on Aug. 31 following
a request from local businessman
Ken Wittekiend, owner of
Witt Machine & Tool.
The trespass warning states
that the men are “forbidden
to return to the premises or
property at 200 Ave. B SW in
Childress.”
Miller said he was contacted
by Wittekiend who requested
the trespass warning on both
Mike and Fred Dietrich.
“We serve the defendants
with the trespass warnings and
let them know it’s a warning
that they are not go to back on
the property,” Miller said.
The trespass warning means
the Dietrich’s are not allowed
to return to the Witt Machine
property again, he said.
In general, if a property
owner does not want someone
on their property, they can request
a trespass warning.
“Anyone can have a trespass
put on anyone they want,”
Miller said, adding if a person
who has been served a trespass
warning does go back onto the
property, they will be arrested.
Miller said the police department
issues trespass warnings
often, most of which are
issued for retail stores and
convenience stores because of
shoplifting.
“The majority of our trespass
warnings are issued by businesses
and apartment managers,”
Miller said.
The Childress County
Sheriff’s office maintains the
official record of the warnings.
