Three men sentenced to prison by District Judge

MEMPHIS – Five men enter pleas, with three receiving prison sentences, during the 100th Judicial District Court’s Aug. 17 session in the Hall County Courthouse.
Roger William West, 59, of Memphis, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the second-degree felony of possession of a controlled substance. Following his arrest for the crime on May 29, 2019, West was initially placed on probation for six years on July 16, 2019.
The State filed a motion asking the court to revoke West’s probation on June 29 based upon numerous violations of probation conditions. At the hearing, West admitted to violating probation, and Judge Stuart Messer sentenced him to 10 years in prison.
Billy Jay Brown, 40, of Childress, was sentenced to prison for six years for the third-degree felony of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Brown was placed on probation for the crime on Oct. 4, 2018, after he was arrested on April 7, 2018.
On Dec. 3, 2019, the State filed court documents to revoke his probation after he had failed to comply with numerous probation requirements.
Mario Nunez, 32, from California, was sentenced to five years in prison for the first-degree felony of possession of a controlled substance. Nunez was placed on 10 years probation on April 7, 2015, after being arrested in Carson County on Oct. 7, 2014. The State filed documents to revoke his probation on April 6. In addition to the sentence, Nunez was required to pay a $10,000 fine, $370 and $1,980 in restitution.
Sayed Mohammad Hossein Ejtehadi, 34, from Oklahoma, was placed on two years probation for the misdemeanor offense of unlawful use of a criminal instrument. Ejtehadi was arrested for the crime on May 16 in Carson County.
Ejtehadi was ordered to pay an upfront fine of $4,000 to Carson County, $180 in restitution and $340 in court costs. If his probation is revoked, Ejtehadi faces up to one year in the Carson County Jail.
Jose Colincontreras, 22, from Mexico, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 78 days in the Carson County Jail for the Class A misdemeanor offense of possession of marijuana. Colincontreras was arrested in Carson County for the crime on June 30.
In addition to the jail time, Colincontreras also was ordered to pay an upfront fine of $4,000 to Carson County, $180 in restitution and $340 in court costs. Due to the conviction, Colincontreras can be deported to Mexico upon completion of his sentence.
Nicholas Charles Moore, 36 of Estelline, was placed on one-year probation for the misdemeanor offense of eluding a police officer. Moore committed the crime on Aug. 10, 2019.
According to the terms of the plea-bargaining agreement, Moore was ordered to pay a $4,000 fine to Hall County, $357 in court costs and attend weekly AA meetings. If his probation is revoked, Moore could be sentenced to up to one year in the Hall County Jail.

District Attorney for the 100th Judicial District Luke Inman along with Assistant District Attorney Harley Caudle, prosecuted the case for the State of Texas, with the Judge Messer presiding.
