WELLINGTON — Boss Lion Rex Henard welcomed new members Larrie and Lyndy Black and guests Shane and Elizabeth Logan to the Monday, Aug. 17, meeting of the Wellington Lions Club in the fellowship hall of the Methodist Church.
Lions Jeff Pastor and Janie Thomas led the pledges, and Lion Rudie Tate offered the invocation before Geney Gulley served the evening meal.
Lion Neal Odom introduced guests Shane and Elizabeth Logan. Shane owns RYRA – Rocket Your Repaired Amps – a guitar pedal manufacturing business on East Avenue in Wellington. His wife Elizabeth lived in Oregon for five years and is a native of Paraguay. Her background is journalism, television, radio, customer service, marketing and business development.
For a fun program, Odom reminded the Lions how important laughing is for one’s well-being. In the process, bonds of friendship and good fellowship develop amongst the Lions.
Lion Nancy Harris presented the minutes of the Aug. 3 meeting, and Odom gave the financial report. He reported that the club netted $428.08 from the hot dog and homemade ice cream drive-thru fundraiser held Aug. 7 on the south side of the Methodist Church.
Sweetheart Jayla Kilgore attended one last meeting prior to her departure for West Texas A&M University in Canyon.
Other Lions present for the meeting included Fraya Hammons, Amy Henard, Shirley Henard, Angie McDanel, Bev Odom, Gene and Noemi Pena, Linda Powell, Paul and Harriett Schaub, Karon Tate, Jeff Thomas and Margret Wood.
