Raelyn Marie Hickman, 39 years of age, passed away at home with her young family by her side on Wednesday, August 19, 2020, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on March 30, 1981, in Potter County, Texas, near Amarillo, to Bettie Carol (Wade) and the late Richard Valenzuela. Raelyn attended Childress High School in Childress, Texas, and then Clarendon College in Clarendon, Texas.
She was united in marriage to Jeff Hickman on June 21, 2013. Raelyn had three precious children, a son, Skyler Ray, and a daughter, Olivia, both of whom loved her dearly, as well as another son, Tyler Ray Cobb, who precedes her in death.
Raelyn worked in the veteran’s hospital in Clinton, Oklahoma, then, prior to her illness, she owned and operated her own residential and commercial cleaning business in the Springfield area. She loved playing with her children, camping, doing crafts, and speed skating.
Raelyn is survived by her beloved husband, Jeff; children: Skyler Ray and Olivia; and her mother: Bettie Valenzuela, all of the home; and her grandmother: Ellen Wade. Raelyn is preceded in death by a son: Tyler Ray Cobb; her father: Richard Valenzuela; and grandfather: LJ Wade.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, August 22, 2020, at 2:30 p.m. at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Springfield, Missouri, with Father Colby J. Elbert officiating. A visitation immediately followed until 4:30 p.m.
Due to the City of Springfield COVID mandates, everyone entering the funeral home, except small children, must wear a face mask and maintain social distancing.
