CHILDRESS: Childress County commissioners will vote on the proposed tax rate of $.58 per $100 valuation during their 9 a.m. meeting Thursday, Aug. 27, at the Childress County Courthouse.
Childress County commissioners proposed a tax rate of $.58 per $100 valuation for 2020-2021, a decrease of $0.010000 or -1.69 percent in the total tax rate, during its Aug. 20 meeting. The total tax rate was $.59 per $100 valuation for 2019-2020.
The Average Homestead Taxable Value increased 2.22 percent from $53,759 in 2019 to $54,953 for 2020.
The Tax on Average Homestead increased $2 or 0.48 percent from $317 in 2019 to $319 for 2020.
The Total Tax Levy on all properties had an increase of $61,325 or 2.29 percent from $2,674,832 in 2019 to $2,736,157 in 2020.
“We feel the tax rate for the county is a good one,” Childress County Judge Jay Mayden said. “We have tried to stay consistent and responsible to the taxpayers.”
