WELLINGTON — Texas A&M AgriLife Extension will be hosting the Collingsworth County Crops Tour beginning at
9 a.m., Friday, Sept. 11 at Morris Farms.
Four continuing education units will be offered with a $10 registration fee. Lunch will be served at noon at the Community
Building. Pre-registration is not required.
Topics to be covered during the event include peanut and cotton general varieties; general cotton weed management, label laws and regulation; soil health and cover crops; cotton field scouting; ground water update; cotton policy and profitability; and disaster programs.
Directions to the farm, from FM 203, the Morris Farms location is five miles north on the Lilly Highway (FM 2344), Agent Kenny Patterson said. “The field will be on the west side of the highway.”
The tour will continue to Rex Henard’s farm. Directions to Henard’s farm: travel three miles north on Lilly Highway, turn west on County Road R for one and a half miles. A sign on the north side of the road marks the entrance, Patterson said.
The crop tour will end at the Quail Community Building.
