CHILDRESS – The Childress City
Council approved a new water rate fee
structure for out-of-town residents on city
water during the Aug. 10 meeting.
The new fee structure includes a base rate
of $90 for the first 5,000 gallons for all outof-
town residents, according to City Manager
Kevin Hodges.
There also is a new classification and rate
for dwellings outside the city limits served
by master meters. These dwellings will be
classified as a commercial customer with
a base rate of $90, with an ascending rate
identical to those in-town residents.
These changes also come with a council
decision to rescind all water related ordinances,
effective October 1, 2020. The repeal
will be applicable to all residents that
deal with city water, including county and
commercial entities.
Anyone with questions about water rates
is encouraged to call City Hall at 940-937-3683.
