Majority of CISD students going back to school on campus
By Whitney Wyatt/The Red River Sun—
CHILDRESS – While 90% of students went back to school at Childress campuses last week, 10% are doing school virtually.
Childress Independent School District Superintendent Carl Taylor said Childress Elementary School has 446 students – both on campus and virtually. Junior High School has 264 total students, and Childress High School has 294 total students.
“We had a great first day of school,” said. “Everyone cooperated with our requests.”
This included school staff taking the temperature of each student before entering the facility. Face coverings were also required for all staff and students 4th grade and up.
Hand sanitizer is available in every classroom, cafeterias, building entrances and exits, gymnasiums and all methods of transportation. CISD Special Programs Director Sarah Mills added that everything was smooth with kids being dropped off and picked up.
“We had kids, and we were happy,” Mills said.
Taylor agreed. “It is so good to see students back on campus,” he said. “We are glad to be here!”
