CHILDRESS – The Childress Zephyrs climbed out of the elimination bracket with a 1-run win over the Wichita Falls Young Guns to capture the championship of the Wichita Falls 12 and under baseball tournament held July 11-12.
On the first day of the tournament, the team split its two games during pool play, defeating the Iowa Park Rebels and falling to the Wichita Falls Young Guns.
On July 12, the Zephyrs defeated the Iowa Park team again as well as three Wichita Falls area teams from the before taking on the Young Guns, again.
The second time, the Zephyrs came out on top, scoring nine runs over the Young Guns to bring home the tournament trophy.
Benton Sims, Crewz Keys, Kavyn Geiser, Jonah Reed, Creedan Bell, Koen Galligan, Brody Hightower, Max Rabe, Easton Green and Noah Ellerbrook make up the 12 and under baseball team.
The team is coached by Eric Green, Justin Keys, Chris Reed and John Galligan.

Zephyrs lost to Wichita Falls Young Guns, 6-7

Won over Wichita Falls Tigers, 6-3

Defeated Wichita Falls Young Guns 9-8 for the championship
