CHILDRESS – Citizens are invited to participate in the Texas Department of Transportation’s discussion of the proposed 2021-2024 Rural Transportation Improvement Program (Rural TIP) for the Childress TxDOT District on Friday, July 24.
The virtual meeting presentation will be posted at 5 p.m., Friday, July 24. To take part in the virtual public meeting, go to www.txdot.gov and enter the words Hearings and Meetings to access the “Hearings and Meetings Schedule” page. Once on that page, click on “Virtual Public Meeting – Rural Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) Childress District” for instructions on how to view the presentation and make comments, according to a press release from TxDOT.
The presentation will include both audio and visual components. For those who do not have internet access, call 940-937-7250 to request materials or ask questions.
The purpose of this virtual public meeting is to receive comments on the proposed projects of the 2021-2024 Rural TIP for the Childress TxDOT District, the release states. The Childress District includes Briscoe, Childress, Collingsworth, Cottle, Dickens, Donley, Foard, Hall, Hardeman, King, Knox, Motley and Wheeler counties.
According to TxDOT, the Rural TIP includes all regionally significant projects to be funded within a TxDOT District during the next four years, including those eligible for funding. As such, these meetings offer the public an opportunity to review and comment on the proposed priorities.
A project in the Rural TIP is a project coming to the community. The Rural TIP is the first step on the road to producing a Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP), the press release stated
The 2021-2024 Rural TIP meetings are being held pursuant to Title 43, Texas Administrative Code, Section 16.102, which calls for an opportunity for public comment concerning the program. Presentation materials will show how the Rural TIP operates along with associated/prioritized projects.
