MEMPHIS – The Hall County Commissioners Court initiated a countywide burn ban on July 13.
“It’s dry,” Hall County Judge Ray Powell said. “It’s getting drier, almost all days are windy, and we need rain really bad. It’s so hot.”
Powell said the court wants to try and minimize the potential of fires by people. The fire ban is for the health and safety of citizens, as well as land, livestock, property, barns and crops, Powell added.
The ban will last until the next Commissioners’ Court meeting on Aug. 10. Powell said a decision to continue or discontinue the burn ban will be made at that time.
