WELLINGTON – Although a traditional work-day breakfast after graduation did not set the scene for Wellington Independent School District’s 2019-2020 Service Award ceremony, employees deserve recognition.
Renessa Klink received a crystal vase for 35 years of service to WISD.
Lloyd Bohannon and wife Dianna Bohannon announced their retirement as they each served WISD for 28 years.
Czrena Watts earned a 20-year walnut pen and pencil set while Kim Philips accepted a 15-year brass bell service award.
Five-year service awards, five-by-seven-inch walnut plaques, went to Kathy Brewer, Jermaine Cantu, Debbie George, Rhae Jones, Chris Sumrall, Rachelle Sumrall and Anna Vela.
In May, Coach Lee Brandon and wife Karlon Brandon, a second grade teacher, announced their plans to move to move to Gruver.
For a special tribute to the Brandons and Bohannons, WHS Principal Jermaine Cantu organized a farewell drive-by on May 20 as COVID-19 prevented a goodbye gathering.
