CHILDRESS – More Childress County residents voted early in the primary runoff election than in the past, according to Childress County Clerk Barbara Spitzer.
“The turnout has been great,” Spitzer said. “Normally we don’t have a good turnout in our runoff elections.”
As of mid morning July 10, the last day for early voting, 222 Childress County residents had cast their ballots, Spitzer said. Ninety-two of those were mail in ballots.
Spitzer said with the presidential election coming in November, people wanted to exercise their right to vote.
“People are really wanting to voice their opinions,” she added.
The Red River Sun will print results from Election Day in the July 22 edition.
