Dwaine Floyd, age 78 of Memphis, passed away Monday, June 29, 2020 in Amarillo.
Graveside services took place at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, July 2 in The Chapel at Fairview Cemetery in Memphis with Jody Heckathorne officiating. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis.
Viewing was from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 1 at the funeral home. Due to the Coronavirus, only five people are allowed to enter the facility at a time. Visitation took place from that same evening from 6 to 7 p.m. at Memphis Housing Authority, 216 S 5th Street in Memphis.
Those attending the service maintained social distancing practices. Arrangements were by Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis.
Dwaine Floyd was born March 5, 1942 in Wellington to Woodrow and Eunice Floyd. He graduated from Lakeview High School in 1960. He married Wanda on August 24, 1978.
Dwaine was a hard working family man that loved spending time with his family, and he took pride in his love of the land. A retired member of the Memphis Volunteer Fire Department, Dwaine served as a fireman for 24 years
He is survived by his wife Wanda and his six children, Quint Floyd and wife Krista of Amarillo, Michelle Floyd of Memphis, Mischi Freeman and husband
Ralph of Childress, Jeri Lon Montgomery of Memphis, Daryl Montgomery and wife Jeanene of Panhandle, Jana Tippett and husband Clif of Memphis; 22 grandkids, 21 great grandkids and one great-great grandkid; his twin brother Dwight Floyd and wife Pat and his sisters Carolyn Davis and Betty Butcher.
The family requests memorials be to the Memphis Volunteer Fire Department.
