MEMPHIS – Memphis residents’ yards will be flocked by pretty pink birds this summer.
The Memphis Chamber of Commerce is conducting a fun fundraiser this summer by placing pink flamingos in community yards and giving the option of paying $10 to remove the birds said Chamber Manager Kim Cloyd. Residents can also pay an extra $10 to send them to someone of their choosing.
“We try to place the birds when people aren’t home so that when they get home they can be surprised,” Cloyd added.
The Chamber’s fundraisers usually look a little different than this, but because of COVID-19 they had to get creative on ways to raise money for the Chamber of Commerce. Cloyd said she had seen towns do similar fundraisers like this, and she loved the thought of the cute pink birds all over residents’ yards.
“They are so cute, and people just laugh when they see them,” Cloyd said.
This fundraiser will last all summer, so be on the lookout for whose yard will be flocked next and help raise money for the Memphis Chamber of Commerce.
