CHILDRESS COUNTY – Childress County has its second positive Rabies case in 2020.
According to a Rabies notice from the Texas Department of State Health Services, a bull appeared sick when he was gathered from the pasture on Thursday, May 28. Despite treatment, it did not improve and was taken to a nearby clinic.
The animal’s condition continued to worsen, and it was humanely euthanized, the notice reported. It tested positive for rabies. The bull had one human exposure and zero animal exposures.
The first 2020 Rabies case was a skunk on March 7, according to the notice. There were no positive Rabies cases in Childress County in 2019.
