MEMPHIS – Memphis High School graduates ended an unpredictable year with a bang after earning over $120,000 in scholarships.
The Memphis High School graduation ceremony took place on May 29 in front of the Courthouse. This ceremony was conducted as a drive-in ceremony where family and friends stayed in their vehicle.
The following scholarships were awarded.
Esmeralda Alanis was awarded the Wellington State Bank Scholarship $2,000, Memphis Ex Student Association Scholarship $150 and the Cyclone Foundation Scholarship $400
Janessa Marie Cervantes was awarded the Memphis Little League/Matt Waller Memorial Scholarship $500, Kevin Alexander’s “Big Dog” Scholarship $250 and the Cyclone Foundation Scholarship $400.
Veronica Cruz-Cruz was awarded the Memphis Chamber of Commerce Scholarship $500, Austin Elementary Scholarship $300, Kevin Alexander’s “Big Dog” Scholarship $250 and the Cyclone Foundation Scholarship $400.
Logan Earl Deatherage was awarded the Cyclone Foundation $400.
Jalen Rawuaun Drew was awarded the Micah Casas’s “No Excuses” Scholarship $1,000.
Cinthia Vanessa Duran was awarded the Hall Childress Soil and Water Conservation District Scholarship $750, Memphis Little Theater Scholarship $300, Travis-Austin PTO Scholarship $300, The Eddie Huddleston Music Scholarship $1,000, Micah Casas’s “No Excuses” Scholarship $1,000, Cyclone Foundation Scholarship $400 and the John Philip Sousa Award for the MHS Band.
Anthony Thomas Foelsch was awarded the Army Nation Guard Scholarship $100,000 and will be an alternate for West Point should a spot become available in the next 2 years.
Yazmeen Emon Henderson was awarded the Kevin Alexander’s “Big Dog” Scholarship $250 and a basketball scholarship to Lamar Community College.
Heather Nicole Hicks was awarded the Cyclone Foundation Scholarship $400.
Daniel Wayne Proffitt was awarded the Cyclone Foundation Scholarship $400.
Mackenzi Ray Vela was awarded the Hall Childress Soil and Water Conservation District Scholarship $300, Lions Club Queen Scholarship $300, Memphis FFA Boosters Scholarship $500, America’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders Scholarship $2,500, Texas Tech ATT Scholarship $10,000 and the Cyclone Foundation Scholarship $400.
Jasmine Leigh Villanueva was awarded the Cyclone Foundation Scholarship $400.
